To Laugh With A Sister

I own all right to publish this picture! :)

I love this picture of my sister and me! And the text quote on it! I believe that quote is exactly what this picture captures!

Pet Friendship

(I own all rights to this picture!)

I absolutely love this picture! This shows the friendship between the dog and her owner. It captures the very special relationship that the two share - the dog's loyalty and obedience and the owner's love and care. I love pet-people photos! They are often the sweetest! :)

"Have You Forgotten"

I had to create this video for a journalism class and post it to a blog site. It is a feature story on a ceremony held at my school last September in memory of the 9/11 attacks. I hope that you enjoy!

The Brave Little Crab

(Picture Courtesy of my good friend Sam)

Over Spring Break in Panama City Beach a few weeks ago my friends and I were laying out on the beach. All of a sudden, we see a little white crab crawling across a towel. It was odd because normally nobody sees these crabs unless it is night time and you're crab hunting. We decided it was picture worthy and he didn't even pinch anyone. I liked this little brave crab and decided he would make a perfect post for today. :)

The Boy and the Gate

(This picture was taken by myself and I own all rights to publish)

Welcome to my blog "A Thousand Words"!

I know we've all heard the old saying "A picture is worth a thousand words!" but to be honest a picture is worth much more than that. I've created this blog to feature some of my favorite photos whether these photos are my own work or the work of another person (don't worry everyone will receive credit for the photos that I post!). I am not a professional photographer, but instead just a college student with dreams and some time on my hands.

I love photography and have been interested in it for practically my whole life. I've experimented with tons of different cameras and photo editing programs and I am still on the search for the perfect of each.

I've learned throughout my extensive interest in photography that practically anything (any person, place, or thing) can be a subject of a photograph. For example, in the photo I have posted above many would say that the subject of the photo would be the sweet little boy and all the other items in this picture compliment him. Although this is true there is more than just one subject in this photo. I particularly like to focus on the gate. The central area of the picture. This gate to me shows stability and the small bit of rust on the bottom rung shows the gate's time. Also, the little boy compliments the gate because he is holding on to it for support for without the gate he could not stand. When I generally think of of a gate I think of it as a passage between one pasture to another (this could be because I was raised "around the farm") but I believe this picture captures a gate for more than people generally see it as. Something strong, stable, and able to withstand time and weather, and not only compassionate enough to let others march through to reach what ever happens to be on the other side but compassionate enough to let them march back through when they realize they are ready to come back home.
